Restarting a Game to Outwit - Scheme of Work

Restarting a Game to Outwit - Scheme of Work

Students should be able to use a range of skills and actions to re-start a game and should understand the rules regarding these aspects within small sided games. The students are to be constantly asked and tested on their knowledge and understanding of how to outwit opponents from the re-starting phases and how to incorporate a range of strategies to beat opponents to gain space, time and awareness. The students will begin to evaluate performances in a range of positions; analyse strengths and weaknesses of each re-start; whilst developing, adapting and refining skills, strategies and tactics to produce high levels of performances following a re-start. As they develop their range of re-starting techniques the students will aim to constantly outwit their opponents using a range of anticipation, dummies, swerves, tactics, deception, speed and power from their re-starts to implement advance strategic and tactical plays by gaining an ascendancy at the re-start.
The students will then be able to increase in accuracy with more purposeful direction and speed which will further enhance the chance of keeping possession and to gain a strategical advantage. The strengths and weaknesses of player’s techniques and positional play from the re-start should be analysed and described by students and this information should be used as constructive feedback for performers to improve performance.
